Go-Kart

I like cars so my parents brought me to the Go-Kart circuit at Taman Jurong on my sixth birthday; that was 4 years ago! Time really flies! Even my birthday cake was a 3D racing circuit in the shape of number 6.

Can you guess what this ticket in my hand was for? This was my first time driving Go-Kart and I was very excited!

My parents reward me with Go-Kart rides when I do well in my tests and examinations. I had accumulated about quite a few Go-Kart rides over the last few years, and had always claimed my rewards at the Taman Jurong circuit ran by Mr. Spencer and his nice assistant from China, who said that I’m one of the fastest in my age group he had seen!

This is a picture of me when I spun out of control and went onto the grass. Mommy and Meredith gasped “Oh Dear!”.

The nice Chinese man helped me back onto the track. I was not tall enough so I had to be given a cushion to lean back against so that I can reach the pedal. If you look carefully, you can see that I was wearing a light pink helmet that had a Hello Kitty sticker on the back, but it was the only one in my size and I understood that it was to protect my head in the event of an accident.

However, my last ride on 23 May 2010 was at the new circuit across the road from SAFTI. The old track had closed. I am a little sad because the adults who ran the old Go-Kart were friendlier than the adults who ran the new circuit. They also looked more relaxed and efficient because the two of them could run the whole place, whereas the new place had about 11 people running it.

The Go-Karts at the new circuit felt about the same in terms of speed and handling. I had fun driving there because the circuit had more humps and had more challenging sharp turns.
