Siem Reap - March 2009

I visited Cambodia during the March school holidays (15 to 17 March 2009). We stayed at Prince D’Angkor. The pool had salt water. We had dinner at the salt water pool side. We had delicious Cambodian food in the candlelight.

I took a picture outside the NYDC restaurant but Godpa said there shouldn’t be one in Siem Reap. I also went to the wet market. It was hot and dark but it had many things on sale. My mommy bought a few of the local handicrafts, including silk table runners. She also bought some clothes at Wanderlust.

We had lunch at the beautiful Hotel de La Paix café and saw some paintings by a local Cambodian artist in the gallery which are for sale. We saw a documentary on Channel News Asia about this hotel just before we went to Siem Reap. It was near to our hotel. We could have a meal on huge black swings that had a table cushions on it. The swings looked like they can accommodate up to about 6 people. We also had dinner at a cultural show where we watch many pretty girls dancing.

The next day, we visited Angkor Wat. There were many, many carvings about ancient stories in this gigantic temple. We went up on a balloon and had a very nice view of Angkor Wat and its surroundings from the air. We took a few pictures from the hot air balloon. These were the best photos we took. We took Angkor Wat too! I was so tired that I tried to rest but I couldn’t. Now, I was making fun of myself! I pretended to take a picture of the camera. Now do you think its magic?

Next we went to the
Bayon temple and I took a ride with daddy on an elephant. The elephant stopped beside a tree and helped itself to some leaves. I’m tired again. These are carvings of elephants in the temple. This temple has big faces everywhere. We also went to Angkor Thom were the trees overgrew the temple.

Finally, we went to Bakheng Temple to watch the sunset. It was fun! A lot of people were here too! Guess what! We took even more photos of the sunset than on the hot air balloon!

I had cup noodles on the plane ride back .I took many pictures of the clouds and land. Although it was short trip, it was wonderful!
